My work is guided by my fascination with stories' power to shape reality. It is driven by my belief that intersectional feminist approaches (to just about everything) offer the greatest hope for building more just, equal, and peaceful systems the world over.
I have an academic background in gender equality, food systems, international development, and illustration and experience working in research, publishing, communications, consulting, and freelance illustrating. I am the co-founder of Feminist Food Journal (FFJ), an online magazine that explores food and culture through a feminist lens. I have recently been honoured with a Zelda Award for my design and illustration work and was selected from over 3,000 applicants to participate in the 2023 Break Fellowship for Women Entrepreneurs.
I am currently working toward a Master's in Illustration of Editorial and Advertising at the Barcelona School of Arts and Design (LABASAD). I am a graduate of the MPhil in Development Studies at Oxford's Department of International Development, where my research on female coffee house owners in Ethiopia used life ‘herstory’ methods to argue that putting young women at the centre of policy-making processes is a crucial starting point for promoting inclusive and transformative development. I also hold a BSc in Global Resource Systems from the University of British Columbia where I studied food systems, with a regional focus on South Asia.
